Job Summary

The EHS Specialist will be responsible for reviewing, evaluating, and analyzing work environments and designing programs and procedures to control, eliminate, and prevent disease or injury. This role will also be responsible for organizing and administering safety programs as well as ensuring site level compliance with OSHA policies and procedures as well as other regulatory standards. This position is onsite Monday through Friday, 8:00am - 4:30pm.

Primary Duties
  • Maintain and oversee training of all written regulatory compliance programs as needed and on an annual basis.
  • Assists in managing a safe work environment that ensures compliance to regulations and meets facility safety goals.
  • Lead incident Investigation, Root Cause Analysis, and Corrective Actions.
  • Participate in development of site-specific Safety Plans to include compliance with OSHA policies and procedures, and other regulatory standards.
  • Provide subject matter to leadership with regard to safety compliance and company policies.
  • Oversee on-site Hazard/Risk Assessments as well as safety audits and inspections to identify hazards and deficiencies that expose the organization to loss or failure to comply with regulatory requirements.
  • Responsible for administrating training regarding company-specific and regulatory safety requirements.
  • Participate in the development of all required and appropriate reports and documentation related to safety activities.
  • Maintain all compliance and training documentation into corporate EHS systems for proper document control.
  • Responsible for collaborating with other Safety representatives on organizational wide initiatives.
  • Works closely with Human Resource department regarding worker's compensation, Employee Return to Work Program and restricted duty policy execution.
  • Proactively involved in ensuring that proper practices are observed in the workplace. They observe working conditions, equipment, processes, and contributor behaviors to identify safety problems and take corrective action.
  • Maintain liaisons with outside organizations such as fire departments, mutual aid societies, and rescue teams, so that emergency responses can be facilitated.
  • Supports hygiene programs, such as noise surveys, continuous atmosphere monitoring, ventilation surveys, or asbestos management plans.
  • Supports installation of all safety devices on machinery, or direct device installation.
  • Participates in department meetings and projects as assigned including the monthly Workers Comp Review conference call.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Adhere to all safety standard and personal protective equipment (PPE) guidelines
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision
  • Detailed oriented
  • Physical Requirement: Capability to lift 50 pounds.
  • Working Conditions: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to reach, swivel, carry items, and speak and actively listen. Noise level is usually moderate.
Education / Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in safety, occupational health or related scientific or technical field preferred; and
  • 3+ years of experience in organizational safety and employee health programs or 1+ years managing safety programs
  • Previous experience with Job Safety Analysis and Ergonomics preferred
  • Thorough understanding of OSHA, EPA, and NIOSH rules and regulations
