Job Description

Founded on Otsuka's rich history in delivering creative innovations for patients, Otsuka Precision Health (OPH) is the next step in our evolution. We are health technology and services organization on a mission. And that mission is to get people the right interventions at the right time in their health journey through data and technology, applying the power of personal connection and deep, data-driven understanding of the patient condition.

Our Strategy & Corporate Development team leads the growth of OPH by working side-by-side with our executive team and Board of Directors to address the most important issues facing us in both the short- and long-term. As part of that, corporate development is a unique, important team that is part of our organization, requiring an ability to see and stay ahead of the market, develop a bold path toward the future, and actualizing it practically with other senior leaders. The team is nimble and navigates ambiguity with ease, balancing strategic issues with the need to act decisively and complete quickly as OPH establishes itself as a leading company.

Leverage your expertise to help us change the story on the health experience and how we can do our part to fix some of the fragmentation in care delivery. The time is now.

What you will do (Job Description)

Let's transform the health experience, one connection at a time, together.

The Associate Director, Corporate Development is a person who bridges big thinking with a desire to roll up their sleeves and get any job done regardless of how large or small it may seem. You will be a distinctive business and relationship builder, an influencer and an orchestrator, and a change agent with a desire to shape the future of OPH while enabling the success of the business today and growing with us.

Your experience will allow you to bring an independent perspective and an ability to make data-informed decisions that drive an unrelenting focus on impactful delivery that allows OPH to achieve its full potential. Your work will be a blend of strategy and corporate development, strategic planning & financial analysis, and innovation as an expert on creating new ideas, translating them to measurable action, and mobilizing teams to make them real. Yet, you will look for and relish opportunities to step in to support our Board of Directors, executives, and their teams with confidence, empathy, and zeal while ensuring focus and priorities are at the forefront of all you do.

Reporting to the head of strategy and corporate development, you will work closely with our executive leadership team, including our President, and colleagues from our parent and sister companies within Otsuka.

You will bring a unique blend of communications and marketing knowledge.

Within your first 30 days, you will have:

  • Developed an understanding of our OPH's reason for being and its role within the Otsuka family of companies.
  • Built an understanding of our OKRs, existing team, enterprise and functional strategies, products, and service offerings.
  • Started building relationships within OPH and other Otsuka companies.
  • Codified your insights into an integrated score card, with findings, on our state of the business versus our ambition and current corporate strategy.

Within your first 60 days, you will have:

  • Led your first working session with the executive team based on the integrated score card.
  • Taken ownership over managing the corporate OKR process and measurement.
  • Created a prioritized list of business improvement, change, and growth opportunities based on an understanding of the external market, our performance, and all customer needs.
  • Supported refinement of our corporate and product-level P&Ls.

Within your first 90 days, you will have:

  • Supported refinement of our enterprise corporate strategy in partnership with Patient Experience, Data & Technology, Operations, and executive leadership to support OPH's growth over the next 18 months.
  • Created an innovation agenda and process for additional ideation, idea collection, and prioritization for the executive team in partnership with functional experts, all based on prioritized problems-to-solve for OPH, patients, and our chosen markets.
  • Launched 1-2 efforts based on the opportunities you identified in partnership with the proper stakeholders with impact measures and roadmap clearly in place.

By the end of your first year, you will have:

  • Developed a roadmap for strategic planning review and performance management and gained alignment across stakeholders.
  • Completed 3-4 opportunity implementations with clear, data-driven recommendations on impact to OPH, how to increase (if recommended), and how to build from the insights.
  • Deployed the innovation agenda, in partnership with corporate development colleagues, with idea flow to support future OPH buy/build/partner opportunities and business case development.
  • Established yourself as a trusted strategist and all-around pinch hitter to support high-priority efforts across all functional leads.

Other responsibilities may be assigned or priorities may change based on OPH strategy & corporate development needs and your skillset and knowledge.
