Job Description

Position Purpose

The Violence Prevention Program Manager responsibilities include leading and supporting the Violence Prevention Committee which is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, implementation, execution, control and completion of specific projects and education relating to the workplace violence. The program manager collaborates with an interdisciplinary team to mitigate the risks of workplace violence events.

The function of the role of program manager has authority to make decisions on program and ensure its effectiveness. The program manager is provided sufficient time and resources to coordinate and lead the violence prevention program.

The program manager leads in the design and implementation of the violence prevention program with a systemic approach that defines the program performance and activities based on annual risk assessments to identify existing or potential hazards for assaults/violence committed against employees and review of data to identify the frequency, location, causes, and consequences of violence against employees.

Nature and Scope

* The position requires leadership skills and knowledge to leverage shared experience in a medical facility providing patient care, responding to, and investigating incidents of workplace violence.

* Facilitates violence prevention efforts involving staff and departments to assess policies, evaluate workflows, observe clinical care, interview team members, assess environmental risks, etc. with goal of identifying gaps, consulting on priority of items needing correction, researching, and advising on reliable compliance strategies utilizing evidence-based practice.

* Maintains timely, effective communication with departments operational leadership regarding all events or proposed changes which may impact regulatory issues related to workplace violence.

* Maintains risk assessment tools related to workplace violence and oversees data on employee injuries related to workplace violence.

* Consistently aligns priorities of workplace violence, aligns initiatives with prevention and/or reduction of workplace violence with Accreditation and Regulatory.

* Shares program highlights and regular reporting.

* Participates in and supports evaluation of workplace violence incidents and workplace violence complaints, as needed.

Description

Education:

Must have working-level knowledge of the English language, including reading, writing, and speaking English. Bachelor's degree in healthcare related field preferred or 5 years' experience in clinical healthcare setting and/or regulatory compliance discipline.

Experience:

Three (3) to five (5) years of progressive healthcare experience with one (1) to three (3) years of experience in program management, demonstrated teaching experience, and process improvement with clinical operations. Experience and knowledge of TJC standards, OSHA and experience with regulatory survey process preferred.

Computer / Typing:

Must be proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel, and Word and have the ability to use the computer to complete online learning requirements for job-specific competencies, access online forms and policies, complete online benefits enrollment, etc.
