The Spirit of the Position:

The LAZ Parking Tax & Compliance Department's mission is to promote an organizational culture that encourages ethical conduct and a commitment to compliance with the laws governed by each of the 42 states and 450+ cities in which we operate. The Sr. Tax Analyst, reporting directly to the Sr. Tax Manager will provide support to the department which includes, but is not limited to the following tasks listed below. The Senior Tax Analyst position is located in our Home Offices in Hartford, CT and offers a hybrid schedule.

Principal Job Duties:

Tax Compliance

  • Support sales and use tax returns, pull necessary information and respective documentation for filing.
  • Document and help implement tax reporting procedures.
  • Assist in writing tax standard operating procedures (SOP).
  • Assist with proper documentation and retention of exemption certificates.
  • Manage tax questions from Field Operations and Accounting Department.
  • Assist with certain property tax filings, including compiling data for the property tax declarations as well as making applicable property tax payments.
  • Assist with applicable business tax returns.

Audit Defense Assistance

  • Assist in compiling necessary work papers.
  • Assist with document requests per audit requirements.
  • Perform first level review of purchase and sales records.

Tax Research

  • Assist with tax research on ad hoc basis under the direction of the Tax Manager.
  • Lead research for notice compliance.
  • Assist Tax Manager in the development stages of onboarding and execution of any new tax software.

Tax Registrations

  • Process timely and accurate tax registrations for sales/use, parking and business taxes in multiple jurisdictions. Close accounts as necessary.

Tax Software

  • Assist Tax Manager in the development stages of onboarding and execution of any new tax software.

Skills:

  • Highly organized and detail oriented.
  • Ability to prioritize and work independently.
  • Advanced experience in Microsoft Office suite of products including 365.
  • Ability to multi-task and work in an ever-changing, fast-paced environment.
  • High degree of commitment to field satisfaction.
  • Well-organized approach to job responsibilities.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with all levels of corporate structure.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to set priorities for workload.

Education:

  • BS degree in accounting or similar field
  • 3-5 years of indirect tax experience, including sales & use tax.

Experience:

  • 3-5 years of indirect tax experience, including sales & use tax.
