Varian is looking for a Health Physicist to provide Radiation Safety support for Varian employees onsite in their Las Vegas, NV location.

In this role you will provide support for training, engineering, manufacturing, testing, installation, and customer service functions involving medical LINACs in North America and Latin America.

What You will do:

  • Assist in the preparation of regulatory documentation for various state and federal radiation generating machine registrations and radioactive material licenses.
  • Support manufacturing and education facilities by ensuring the timely performance of shielding surveys, monitoring dose reports, and creating, maintaining, and updating radiation safety training.
  • Perform leak tests and inventories as required by regulation.
  • Guide and instruct radiation workers in the proper use of PPE, instrumentation, and ALARA concepts.
  • Submit requests for payment to ensure registrations and licenses are renewed in a timely manner.
  • Support Varian's greater North and Latin America radiation safety program as needed.
  • Perform RAM package receipt and shipping per DOT/IATA regulations.
  • Utilize 10 CFR 20, Nevada Administrative Code 459, California Code of Regulations Title 17, and other state radiation protection regulations as applicable.

What You will have:

  • Bachelor's degree in Radiation Health Physics or Health Physics (or equivalent) with 3+ years of related experience
  • Experience supporting a radiation safety program (radioactive material, training materials, and machine registrations)
  • Previous experience with Radiation Safety training creation and presentation
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Adept at working within a team environment
  • Proficient utilizing business tools including: Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Experience with HCM (e.g., Workday), or equivalent ERP product and productivity software desired.
